I now have a much clearer understanding of what exactly mindfulness is and the many benefits it has to ones overall health and well being. I hope to incorporate mindfulness and meditation into my daily life as often as I possibly can....just learning its OK to pause and observe experiences, not changing anything and responding more skillfully will be a huge step for me. I really enjoyed the mix of relaxation, meditation, and movement and learning about the psychology of mindfulness. Donna has a wonderful ability to explain everything clearly and simply, just what we need to help us focus in this age of inattention. Her enthusiasm and passion to share her experience and her own journey helped motivate me to stick with it. Everyone can benefit from reducing stress in their lives these days and I loved the pacing and how manageable this course was. It has lots of restorative practices and techniques of different lengths no matter what your time pressures. I will return to it again and again and enjoyed exploring the bonus material and reflecting on what arose for me through the worksheets. This course is perfect for beginners or those who would like to refresh their practice.
6 Weeks - We recommend that you take 1 chapter per week over 6 weeks. That way you have time to imbue the wisdom and understanding of the practices and lessons. Spend time each day in practice use reflection to enhance the learning process.
Yes and no! It can take a little practice and patience.. If we want to build muscle in the gym we need to go regularly. Similarly in mindfulness, we need practice regularly to build a capacity in the mind that cultivates patience, acceptance, letting go and an emotional balance called equanimity. All of these qualities support us when we face a really challenging situation.
Situations and events remain the same. We suffer less when we "relate in a different way" to suffering. We become less reactive, more accepting and gentle Transformation takes place in how you connect, engage and respond to experiences
Be your own guide. Always listen to what feels right for you in each moment. A question to remember is, "How can I best care for myself in this moment". We always have choice points in the practice. 1) Stay in practice and explore deep abiding patience or 2) Open the eyes, walk around, take a glass of water or a walk in the park
